Wall fixings
It goes without saying that TV brackets with TVs attached are heavy items and if you have a larger screen and an extendable arm TV bracket then there is a huge leverage placed on the wall. Its therefore really imporant to ensure your bracket is properly fitted to the wall for a safe and secure installation.
We supply all brackets with heavy duty lag bolts and wall plugs so you can get a suitably strong fixing into brick and concrete walls, most brackets having 6 fixings to ensure the load is suitably covered and spread out along the wall.
If you are mounting onto block walls such as breeze block or Thermolite block then use the same fixings that are supplied but use a drill size 1mm under that specified and do not excessively "open out" the hole as blockwork can easily crumble and its always possible to make the hole bigger if needed!
Plasterboard walls are more tricky. The lag bolts provided can be used to fit the bracket to the wall as long as the wall plate spans at least 2 of the wooden studs behind the plasterboard. TVs that weigh 20 kgs or less can be mounted directly onto the plasterboard as long as again it a tilting or a flat bracket and you use our plasterboard "expandette" fitting system or an equivilant one from a builders merchant. Swivel and arm brackets are not suitable for mounting directly onto plasterboard in any circumstances unless the walls are locally reinforced - see our FAQ section for further details.
If your walls are dry-lined or "dot & dab" then you can safely use Rigifix fittings and these are an excellent solution and can be used to mount all brackets and all weights - see our specialist wall fixing section for these Rigifix bolts.
